Stormsriver Adventures is a rurally based Eco Adventure Company situated in the heart of the majestic Tsitsikamma Forest region aptly named The Garden of The Garden Route. The company boasts adventure activities which include the world-renowned Tsitsikamma Treetop Canopy Tour, Tsitsikamma Forest Tour (Woodcutters Journey), Hiking Trails, Team Building, Local Crafting Facility and a Catering Facility/Restaurant.

The Tsitsikamma Treetop Canopy Tour is the first of its kind in Africa. Safety is paramount, and the zip line system has been built to the highest civil engineering standards. Imagine the Tsitsikamma Forest, 30 meters above, as you gently glide on 10 slides to 10 platforms high up in Giant trees. The platforms provide an unbelievable view of this enchanting New World.

Spend a few minutes relaxing while your zip line Guides enthusiastically explain the ecology of the forest – pointing out different trees and magnificent giant ferns way below. You may even sight the Knysna Loerie and the elusive Narina Trogon. About 3 hours later you exit the forest, having undertaken the journey of a lifetime. A delicious light refreshment will be waiting for you at our restaurant. The Woodcutters Journey gives you the amazing experience of exploring the Tsitsikamma forest from the comfort of an all-terrain vehicle. There are 100 different tree species to see, including the beautiful giants of the forest, the Outeniqua yellowwoods.

Lose yourself in the dappled sunlight filtering through the canopy above. Learn about the history, the fauna and flora of one of the most pristine and sensitive areas in the world. Then relax and enjoy a delicious two-course meal under the trees at the picnic site on the banks of the Storms River. Perfect for the whole family, no strenuous walking, just beautiful scenery, fantastic knowledge and good food! Nature at its purest!

Forest Nest Cottage

Take advantage of our amazing three-bedroomed self-catering house in the heart of Stormsriver Village. This is ideal for a family of four to six or couples wanting a special getaway to treat. Here you are surrounded by nature with many exciting outdoor adventure opportunities literally on your doorstep!

The spacious open plan lounge offers full DSTV, Bosca fireplace, comfortable couches leading onto a covered veranda with braai area.

Recommended activities include the world-renowned Tsitsikamma Canopy Tour, the historical
Woodcutters Journey, Blackwater Tubing, and mountain biking or hiking the many beautiful trails on offer. Golf is also offered at the Fynbos Golf Club, 35 km from Stormsriver Village.

The house is fully-equipped for self-catering purposes, but should you wish to eat out, we highly recommend the following restaurants: De Oude Martha, Rafters Restaurant, Marilyn’s 60s Diner, and the Bistro. Steers is just 5km away!! For those wanting a bit of pampering, visit the Spa at the Armagh Country Lodge.

Stormsriver Adventures is more than just an Adventure Company as it has been firmly committed to Community Upliftment for the past 12 years, employing and training community members. 88% of the staff is from the local area and a committed Equity and Skills Development Plan has resulted in locals progressing to senior management positions within the company.

The Catering Company is run by local women. A Crafting initiative is currently capacitating 12 local crafters who are supported by S.R.A.  Numerous initiatives such as Animal Welfare Programs, A School Feeding Scheme, Clothing Distribution to the poor, Educational Outings for the disadvantaged and many other Community Projects are driven by the company. Two SMME’s have been established with the support and mentorship of Storms River Adventures: “Adventure Footage” which provides DVDs and photos of clients on the Canopy Tour and “Loxion Lamination”.  These have created a further 5 jobs for the local community.

Purchasing and Local outsourcing ensure direct economic benefit to locals in the area. Stormsriver Adventures are the very proud winners of the Proudly South African – Company of the Year 2007 Award in recognition of our Social, Economic and Environmental Programme. The prestigious Fair Trade in Tourism Accreditation was awarded to the company who also has been the recipient of The Imvelo Award for responsible tourism.

A strict environmental policy is applied throughout the operation ensuring the protection of the environment at all costs.  S.R.A. is a long-standing member of S.A.T.S.A. and complies fully with the strict code of ethics required by this organization. Other memberships include T.B.C.S.A. (Tourism Business Council) and F.G.A.S.A. (Field Guides Association) and the organization is thus one of the most accredited adventure operators in Southern Africa.

BEE compliance has been achieved by Stormsriver Adventures and the company is audited annually by fair trade ensuring a committed transformation policy.

Located midway between George and Port Elizabeth in the scenic little village of Storms River just off the N2 highway, the adventure centre is the main base from which most activities depart.
