PickYourPlayground

Jumping for joy!

Is Gratitude a Real Thing? Yes! We Definitely Think So!

As many of you who have been following our journey already know, we recently launched PickYourPlayground into the Middle Eastern market with a small competition — just to test the waters.

We were blown away by the response.

We had 1,517 entries. Really! 😉

Do you know how many we hoped to get? Honestly, if 200 people entered, we’d have been happy. Over 500? We’d have been thrilled. But over 1,500? That’s something else.

So how did we reach that many people? And why did so many choose to enter? To borrow a line from Professor McGonagall (aka Maggie Smith), it might feel like “sheer dumb luck!” but honestly, that’s only part of the story.

We do have an amazing tech team — they’re learning what makes our brand unique and helping build a product that reflects that. We also have a great marketing team who spark, spar, and push ideas every day to help us rise above the noise in a crowded market.

But the truth is: launching a new product into a new market is never easy. It’s a leap of faith. A big one. And you welcomed us with open arms.

Thank you!

We’re not trying to build just another brand. We’re creating a solution to a real problem we’ve experienced ourselves: how hard should it be to find authentic, offbeat, or just right-for-you adventures when traveling or something new in your home city? So to have that concept resonate — and to feel it land so warmly … it truly has been incredibly rewarding.

We’ve received some amazing comments, and I’d love to share just a couple. Not to brag, and not to boost our egos, but to show you that when you take the time to encourage us — it means the world.

“You’re so awesome! I don’t believe I have read a single thing like that before. So great to find someone with some original thoughts. Really … thank you for starting this up. This website is something that is needed on the internet, someone with a little originality!”  Thank you, SM, whoever you are!

“I truly appreciate your technique of writing a blog. I added it to my bookmark site list!” Thank you, AC, wherever you are!

It might seem like a small thing, but to us, entrepreneurs who are still figuring it out day by day, this kind of encouragement from strangers is massive. Obviously, our families and friends have been wonderfully supportive, but these unexpected, heartfelt messages from people we’ve never met and don’t know? That’s a special kind of magic. Once again, thank you!

So, back to the question:        Is gratitude really a thing?

Yes.

Absolutely.

Unquestionably.

  • We’re grateful to everyone who entered our competition.
  • Grateful to those who took time to share kind words and constructive thoughts.
  • Grateful to the folks behind the scenes — past and present — who’ve poured energy into helping us get this far.
  • And yes, we’re grateful to each other too — for having the courage, and energy, to keep follow the dream; even when the road was uncertain, the nights were late, the days were long, and the funds were low. 😉

You’ve shown us there is a gap for what we’re trying to do — and that many of you are excited for a new way to experience the world. So let’s keep going, together.

Have ideas? Feedback? Thoughts on how we can make this a better experience for you?

We’re listening. We don’t have the thickest skin, but we do have open minds and open hearts — especially when it comes from people who love adventure as much as we do.

Let’s push through the pain and make something great, together.

With gratitude

Jack & Dianne
